Dog friendly
by Sharon
Hi, we're visiting Benllech this weekend with our dog and wondered where we can go with him - pubs etc?
Thanks
Dear Sharon
First of all, thank you for getting in touch.
To be frank with you I am not certain about the individual policies of the family hotels and restaurants in the Benllech area.
However, Benllech has always been a family friendly little beach village, which means that during the summer it indulges the noisiness and playfulness of very young children. That means that they are tolerant and switched on to welcoming families. This is, I believe, important for you to know.
Now that the holiday season is over all the family hotels will be more than ready to welcome retired or late-season visitors. The family hotels in Benllech serve good food because they have to, otherwise the locals won't support them through Winter.
This is to extend their season as long as possible, which is smart business.
This is purely conjecture on my part, and I am quite comfortable with my reasoning, that nice people with well-behaved doggies will invariably be welcomed. After all, a customer is a customer is ... etc.
The off season is the bad season for all visitor business. So ... extending the logic further, there are a great many retired folk in Benllech with dogs.
Ergo, I think that the family hotels may be okay, though the restaurants not.
In truth, I don't know; however, I think so.
Here are two contact points for you. The first is the Tourism office of the County Council. Pretty helpful I hear (they should be): Tel: (01248) 750057.
Their email address: tourism@anglesey.gov.uk
N.B. Watch out on the beach because dogs have to kept restrained until end of September. Check out my other beach pages to find out which beaches in the area don't have dog restrictions at any time.
Please let me know what quality of advice you receive from the County Council.
Have a lovely time and make sure you bring sunny weather with you.
